The Inflation Reduction Act and other policies under President Joe Biden are boosting U.S. manufacturing above levels seen during the Trump administration, according to a new report from the BlueGreen Alliance, an organization that represents unions and environmental groups.
At the end of July, companies in the U.S. employed roughly 12,953,000 people in the manufacturing sector, the report said, referencing Bureau of Labor Statistics data.
The BLS data, updated earlier this month, shows manufacturing employment under Biden has exceeded pre-coronavirus pandemic figures for two full years.
More than 775,000 manufacturing jobs were added to the economy during the Biden administration, according to the report. Manufacturing growth during the Trump administration “all but plateaued” before the pandemic, it said.
