Electing former president Donald Trump could bring the U.S. energy transition to a standstill, according to a new analysis that says the Project 2025 conservative policy blueprint would weaken job growth, the economy and public health.

Modeling published Wednesday by Energy Innovation LLC, a climate think tank, found that the policies outlined in Project 2025 taken together would effectively undo President Joe Biden’s substantial actions to address climate change.

The projected effects include 1.7 million fewer jobs in 2030 and a $320 billion decrease in gross domestic product. Increased air pollution from easing restrictions would cause an additional 2,000 premature deaths by the 2030.

Energy Innovation — a nonpartisan firm whose policy models have helped shape Democrats’ proposals — found that under a Project 2025 scenario, U.S. emissions would be about 18 percent higher by 2030 than they would under current policies.
