Senate appropriators are no longer voting this week on legislation to fund the Federal Emergency Management Agency and other disaster relief efforts.
The Senate Appropriations Committee is meeting Thursday to mark up its fiscal 2025 Energy-Water, Defense, Financial Services and Labor-HHS-Education bills.
They were also supposed to consider the Homeland Security bill, but committee leaders decided Monday to put it on ice while appropriators continue negotiations.

The delay could exacerbate perennial uncertainties about future disaster relief funding weeks before FEMA’s disaster fund is projected to run out of money. It also highlights the pitfalls of the appropriations process during an especially tumultuous election cycle.
